Hi, I’m Ian Knight, aka Astroisk, an English amatuer astrophotographer living in North Holland. My passion lies in capturing the wonders of the night sky through deep sky, solar, lunar, and planetary astrophotography. By day, I am a career ICT professional, and spend many hours developing scripts and tools to assist with my astrophotography.

Living in the Netherlands presents its own set of challenges for astrophotography. The often cloudy skies and light pollution mean that opportunities to photograph the night sky can be rare and fleeting. However, these challenges have only fueled my determination to make the most of every clear night and to advocate for the preservation of dark skies.

A core part of my mission is to make astrophotography accessible to everyone, regardless of budget. I believe that the magic of the night sky should be within reach of all, not just those who can afford high-end equipment. To that end, I’m committed to promoting and developing open and free software, as well as exploring the use of inexpensive computing hardware, with a particular focus on the Raspberry Pi 5 and supporting software. By sharing knowledge and tools, I hope to empower others to explore the cosmos without breaking the bank!

I’m a member of the British Astronomical Association, where I connect with fellow enthusiasts and contribute to the broader astronomical community. Through this membership, I stay engaged with the latest developments in the field and continue to learn from some of the best minds in astronomy.

Thank you for visiting my site, and I hope you find inspiration in the wonders of the universe just as I do.

Clear skies!
